Schedule of Fees

We publish every fee we charge. Most fuel companies don’t.

You usually find out at the invoice instead. We’d rather you see the entire picture before you sign — including the charges that don’t make us look good — so you can compare us honestly against anyone else in the Hudson Valley.

Most customers on automatic delivery see exactly one fee from this page: the environmental compliance fee. Nearly everything below covers emergency trips, missed appointments, and running out of fuel — all of which automatic delivery is designed to prevent.

If a fee here doesn’t make sense to you, call and ask. That’s a problem with how we’ve explained it, not with you.

Fees that apply to regular service

These are the only charges a customer in good standing on automatic delivery should expect to see.

Environmental Compliance — $15.99 per delivery. Covers spill-prevention equipment, containment, and the regulatory reporting required on every delivery we make. Some fuel dealers show no delivery fee at all. That doesn’t mean the cost isn’t there — it means it’s inside the price per gallon, where you can’t see it or compare it. We break it out so you can.

Annual Tank Lease — $10.00 per year. Ten dollars a year. We think a tank lease should be a formality, not a profit center.

Monthly Meter Read — $10.99 per month. Applies only to metered accounts, where a Kimlin employee physically visits and reads your meter each month. Most residential customers are not on metered service and never see this.

Fees you can avoid completely

Every charge in this section applies only to will-call customers or to fuel run-outs. If you’re on automatic delivery, none of them apply to you. We track your usage and schedule deliveries before you get low — that’s the entire point of the program, and it’s free to join.

Will Call — $4.99 per order. Covers scheduling and routing a delivery that isn’t on a planned route. Waived for automatic delivery customers.

Special Trip — $199.99 (within 72 hours) · $299.99 (within 48 hours) · $399.99 (within 24 hours). Charged when a will-call customer runs out and needs an off-schedule emergency delivery. An emergency run means pulling a truck and a driver off a planned route mid-day, and the price reflects how much notice we have to work with. This fee does not exist for automatic delivery customers, because we don’t let them run out. And we waive it the first time it happens to you. Running out once is a bad day. We’ll cover it.

Leak Check — $69.99. Required by national fuel gas code any time a propane system loses pressure. We are not permitted to restore service without performing one. This is a safety requirement, not a Kimlin policy.

Light Pilot — $69.99. When a run-out means a technician has to come into the home and relight pilots.

Prime & Restart (oil) — $69.99. An oil system that runs dry has to be bled and restarted before it will fire again.

Out of Route — $95.00. Charged only when a scheduled-delivery customer reports being out of gas, we send a truck off route to help, and the tank turns out not to be empty.

Return Trip — $59.99. Charged when we arrive and the driveway is unplowed or blocked. Never charged on the first attempt — only on repeat trips after we couldn’t safely reach your tank.

4WD Truck — $375.00. For deliveries to snow-blocked driveways that require our specialized small 4WD truck. We always call you for approval before using this vehicle and charging this fee. You will never find this on an invoice you didn’t agree to first.

Fees tied to a specific event

Installation — $99.98. Connecting a new tank to an existing stub. Includes dispatch and the code-required leak check.

Move In / Move Out Check — $64.99. Gauge reading, refund to the prior occupant, and setup for the new one. Includes dispatch and half of the standard leak check.

Meter Read (Move In / Move Out) — $25.00. The final meter reading when an account closes, so you’re billed only for fuel you actually used. Deducted from your security deposit; the remaining deposit is returned to you.

Tank Removal — $109.00 to $179.00. 250gl or 330gl — $109.00 · 100lb, 50gl, 420lb, or 500gl — $129.00 · 1000gl — $179.00 · each additional tank — $75.00. We keep removal affordable on purpose. If you decide to leave, the exit shouldn’t be the expensive part.

Early Termination — $150.00. Charged when a customer ends a service agreement before the contract term is up. This is separate from any outstanding balance and from tank removal, which is billed at the rates above.

Pump Off — $79.00. Recovering the propane still inside a tank we’re picking up.

Recovery — $1.99 per gallon, or the price on your last bill, whichever is lower. You’re credited at whichever of the two is lower for you.

Missed Appointment — $105.00. Charged when a technician is dispatched to your home and no one is there. We don’t charge this if you call ahead to reschedule. Give us notice and there’s no fee.

Minimum Use — $199.99 (420lb) · $299.99 (330gl or 250gl) · $499.99 (500gl) · $899.99 (1000gl). Applies when your annual usage falls below your tank’s capacity — one full turn of the tank per year. A 500-gallon tank means 500 gallons a year. A tank we install, own, maintain and inspect carries real annual cost no matter how much fuel moves through it. This fee bills automatically, but call us and we’ll review it — if your circumstances changed, we’d rather fix it than argue about it. And if your usage is seasonal or low, talk to us before you sign: a smaller tank usually eliminates this fee entirely.
